  Way off the beaten path in southern Illinois yet more than just a local establishment but a true destination spot. Big Muddy sits isolated in north Murphysboro in a converted utility shed. If you didn't know better you'd think there were a few tractors housed inside. Instead there is a full production brewery with a modest taproom in the middle. It's simple but effective. I sampled a few beers on tap before getting a discounted case of Pumpkin Smasher for $10. That was a deal!
